GTLs is an estate administration and management division that specialises in insolvency law. We act as trustees and liquidators of insolvent estates. We accept appointments in Pretoria and Johannesburg High Courts. We provide opinions on insolvency law and assist our clients with initiating business rescue proceedings, voluntary surrender and compulsory sequestration proceedings, voluntary winding-up or liquidation of companies, as well as general administration of deceased and insolvent estates.
Our fee structure is formulated in line with specific guiding principles as required by the Law Society. In determining fees for our professional services, we will take into account the following factors:
• The amount and importance of the work done;
• The complexity of the matter or the difficulty or novelty of the work or questions raised in executing the client’s instructions;
• The skill, labour, specialised knowledge and responsibility involved on the part of the practitioner;
• The number and importance of the documents prepared or perused, without necessarily having regard to their length;
• the time expended by the practitioner in executing the client’s instructions;
• The place where and the circumstances in which the services (or any part thereof) were rendered;
• The amount of value where money or property is involved;
• The importance of the matter to the client;
• The quality of work done;
• The urgency of the matter;
• The experience or seniority of the practitioner.
In addition to the above factors, it must be noted that fees for our professional services are charged at an hourly rate (or part thereof). Examples of professional services would be consultations, drawing up of documents, travelling for purposes of executing a client’s mandate, time spent at court, on the telephone, perusing documents, conducting research and so on.

We provide a vast
We provide comprehensive services for our corporate and commercial law clients including the incorporation and sale of business enterprises, drawing and amendment of shareholders’ agreements, memorandums of incorporation, partnership agreements registration of trademarks, patents, designs and copyrights.
We provide litigation in the Superior Courts and Magistrates’ Courts across a variety of fields and nature of disputes. This includes individual and corporate debt collection, contractual disputes, urgent reliefs, constitutional and administrative disputes.

Our firm offers services in property law including the registration and transfer of immovable properties, registration and cancellation of bonds, advise on various consequences of acquisition and disposal of property, sectional title transfers, opening of sectional title registers and establishment of townships, evictions and land title adjustments.

We also assist entities in their risk planning processes in line with their industry standards and relevant legislation.
Our labour services include making representation in the CCMA, Bargaining Councils and the Labour Court; the drafting employment contracts and company policies.
We attend to various aspects of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services (FAIS) Act in all categories including the registration of Financial Services Providers (FSP’s) (including their representatives, key individuals and compliance officers); conduct disciplinary proceedings and opinions on debarments, we also do appearances before the Appeals Tribunal for appeals relating to debarments by the Registrar, regulatory actions and any other decision or failure to make a decision by the Registrar.
Mahlatse Gwebu, the founding director, is an attorney of the High Court, insolvency and registered tax practitioner. He graduated from the University of Limpopo with Bachelor of Laws, currently completing his research component of Master of Laws in Tax law from the University of South Africa and has a certificate in Insolvency Law from the University of Pretoria. He has also written his Regulatory Examinations for Financial Services Providers and Key Individuals in categories I, II IIA, III and IV. He began his training towards being an attorney at Govender Attorneys and completed his articles at Machaka N.C Incorporated. He gained experience in contracts, development finance security and debt collection, notarial bonds, high court litigation, dispute resolution, third party insurance and employment law. He later joined the Financial Services Board; in the team that oversaw the compliance department of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services (“FAIS”) Act framework where he gained enormous experience in the regulation of the non-banking financial services sector. Mahlatse is driven by principles of honesty and integrity, respect, fairness and is passionate about people.
